Rahm Emanuel isn't so sure that BP CEO Tony Hayward should keep his day job, but he definitely should rule out a career in PR after his yachting debacle. "Well, to quote Tony Hayward, he has got his life back,” Emanuel told This Week, adding that, "This has just been part of a long line of PR gaffes.” Meanwhile, Emanuel says that "bottlenecks" in the Gulf response are inevitable, but that the administration is hammering BP to collect "90%" of the oil seeping from the well by mid-July.

  • Hayward fared no better with Republican Richard Shelby, who said: "The fact that the [CEO] of BP had the gall, the arrogance, to go to a yacht race .. in England, while all of this was going on here, I thought what was the height of stupidity, and I believe myself that he should go."
  • Kenneth Feinberg, the man overseeing BP's $20 billion claims fund, says President Obama told him to "get these claims paid, get them paid quickly.” As for Joe Barton's "shakedown" accusation: "I don't think it helps to politicize this."
  • The newest round of Iran sanctions have "real potential" to make Tehran "come to their senses," says Robert Gates.
  • Mitch McConnell isn't ruling out greeting Elena Kagan with a filibuster: “I think some of her views are quite troubling," says he. But he also disowned one of his own, reports Politico, saying, "I couldn't disagree with Joe Barton more."
