Ann Coulter comes to a rousing defense of Michael Steele in Human Events, saying he was "absolutely correct" in his criticism of President Obama and the Afghan war. "It has been idiotically claimed that Steele's statement about Afghanistan being Obama's war is 'inaccurate'—as if Steele is unaware Bush invaded Afghanistan soon after 9/11." Of course he and everyone else knows that. But make no mistake: This is Obama's war, just as Vietnam was Lyndon Johnson's, because he chose to escalate.
"I thought the irreducible requirements of Republicanism were being for life, small government and a strong national defense, but I guess permanent war is on the platter now, too," writes Coulter. Because Steele dared to criticize this now misguided military effort, Bill Kristol and Liz Cheney are calling for his head. "Inasmuch as demanding resignations is another new Republican position, here's mine: Bill Kristol and Liz Cheney must resign immediately." (More Michael Steele stories.)
