Brewer Is Spreading Lies About Border Violence

Arizona has a big problem, writes Dana Milbank—a governor who keeps lying about border violence. Her most recent outrageous claim, that beheaded bodies are being found in the desert, "has not a follicle of evidence" to support it, he writes in the Washington Post. Ditto with her previous claims (Phoenix is a kidnapping mecca, most illegals are drug mules, etc.).

"This matters, because it means the entire premise of the Arizona immigration law is a fallacy," writes Milbank. "Arizona officials say they've had to step in because federal officials aren't doing enough to stem increasing border violence. The scary claims of violence, in turn, explain why the American public supports the Arizona crackdown." (More Jan Brewer stories.)
