Details of a bizarre kidnapping emerge: A girl who was snatched as a baby 7 years ago in Los Angeles was raised by an Arizona couple who kept her out of school to hide her from authorities, officials said. Amber Nicklas, who turns 8 this month, was abducted in 2003 and found last night in a home in Phoenix that also served as a palm reading business. The girl appeared in good health, but investigators later discovered through interviews that she was kept out of school and could not read.

Amber was 1 when she was abducted from her foster parents by three aunts, all juveniles at the time, during a visit to a children's restaurant. Two of the aunts spent time in juvenile camp for the abduction, but authorities would not release details on why they took the child or if they remain part of the investigation. It's unclear whether Amber will return to her foster parents. (More kidnapping stories.)
