Surprise Senate candidate Alvin Greene made headlines a while back for floating the idea of making action figures of himself as a way to create jobs. A minor league baseball team in South Carolina heard the idea and is beating him to the punch, reports AP. On Saturday, the Charleston RiverDogs will hand out figurines of Greene, though technically they're figurines of a male Statue of Liberty (it's complicated) with Greene's photo stuck on the face.
"Who better epitomizes the American dream that anything is possible than Mr. Greene?" says the team's general manager. A far likelier explanation might be that team's president is Mike Veeck, son of Bill Veeck, a baseball executive legendary for his crazy stunts to promote the game. (More Alvin Greene stories.)
