Shocked that Kelsey Grammer—at the time the highest paid actor on television—didn’t sign a prenup with the wife he’s now divorcing? Olivia Allin isn’t. She rounds up nine other celebrities who eschewed prenups—most of whom ended up divorced—on The Frisky:
- Mel Gibson: He may be racist and possibly violent, but at least Gibson didn’t force ex-wife Robyn to sign a prenup—making her eligible for 50% of his estimated $900 million fortune.
- Roseanne Barr: Tom Arnold walked away from the marriage with a Roseanne tattoo…and $50 million of her money.
- Reese Witherspoon: She was making $20 million a movie when she divorced Ryan Phillippe in 2005, and he was only making $2.5 million a pop. Their earnings were split right down the middle, thanks to California law.
- Jessica Simpson: When they got married in 2002, Nick Lachey’s 98 Degrees was hot. When they got divorced three years later, not so much. Jessica ended up paying Lachey “significantly” more than her original $1.5 million offer, but still less than half of her estimated $36 million income.
