Four US senators are probing the release of the only person convicted of involvement in the Lockerbie bombing, CNN reports. Kirsten Gillibrand, Chuck Schumer, Frank Lautenberg, and Bob Menendez released a letter today requesting a meeting with David Cameron during the British PM's visit to the US this week. Scotland released Abdelbaset Ali al-Megrahi last August, when he reportedly had 3 months to live—but he is still alive in Libya.

By some accounts, BP pressured the government to appease Libya for the sake of its business interests. "We have also been dismayed to hear from a BP representative that the company actively lobbied the previous government on behalf of the Prisoner Transfer Agreement," the senators wrote. The British government and BP have denied any deal-making over Megrahi's release.
