The coveted Helen Thomas seat in the White House press briefing room went to the AP yesterday, upsetting all three news organizations who'd been lobbying for it—Fox, Bloomberg, and NPR. But Fox moved up to the front row, into the old AP seat, and NPR moved into Fox's vacated second-row seat. The Fox win was interpreted as payback for Fox yielding to CNN the last time a front-row seat was available, in 2007, reports Politico.
The White House Correspondents Association vote yesterday also awarded the Financial Times a regular seat, and dropped US News & World Report.
