Americans who can afford brand-name snacks have a clear-cut favorite, a new survey reveals: Ritz crackers. "Butter and salt is a pretty good combination for most Americans and most anybody," an exec with the survey firm tells the New York Post. Wheat Thins finished second and Orville Redenbacher popcorn third. Surprisingly, potato chips didn't make the top 10—because particular brands have trouble differentiating themselves from competitors. "I don't think people see a lot of difference there," says the exec.
The top 10:
- Ritz
- Wheat Thins
- Orville Redenbacher (popcorn)
- Snyder's (pretzels)
- Rold Gold (pretzels)
- Triscuit
- Doritos
- Fritos
- Sunchips
- Cheetos
