Pamela Geller, who effectively founded the campaign against the Ground Zero mosque, discusses her reasoning with Talking Points Memo…and South Park has a lot to do with it. Her “most prominent examples” for why she has a problem with the Islamic faith were the death threats leveled at a Danish cartoonist and, later, the South Park creators, for depicting Mohammed, writes Christina Bellantoni. But, Geller insists, she has no problem with “secular” Muslims.
Geller, perhaps best known for bus ads aimed at stopping the “Islamization of America” as well as anti-mosque bus ads, describes herself as a “human rights activist” who helps Muslim women find “safe haven.” She explains that the building that would house the mosque was hit by landing gear on Sept. 11, and is thus sacred. As for all the strip clubs in the area, well, that’s different: “Strip clubs didn't bring down the towers. It's faulty logic.”
