The audience of a Swell Season concert, including children, watched a man apparently commit suicide last night. The unidentified man died after climbing onto the roof, running to the edge, and jumping off to the stage, three stories below. “At first, we thought it was a dummy or part of the lighting, but after seeing the horrible shock on (the lead singer's) face, we realized it was something very serious,” a witness tells the SF Weekly.

One witness who was standing near the victim during the show describes him as being in his mid- to late-twenties. “He stood alone and he seemed melancholy and removed from the show, but not necessarily distraught. We made eye contact and smiled at each other," he says, but the San Jose Mercury News reports the victim attended the show with a friend. After jumping, “he was motionless, like a rag doll,” says another. Paramedics tried to revive the man, but a doctor attending the concert pronounced him dead.
