Fox—unlike other news networks—has barely mentioned the fact that its parent company has donated $1 million to the Republican Governors Association. The network has, however, agreed to accept some money from its critics and run an ad from watchdog group Media Matters for America informing its viewers of the News Corp donation. The ad—which Fox ordered several revisions to—will run during the O’Reilly Factor later this month.

"We thought this was a message that the prime-time audience of a major broadcast television audience ought to hear," a spokesman for the group tells the Christian Science Monitor. Media analysts say that Fox has made a winning PR move by accepting the ad. The ad itself probably won't have much impact, as Fox's conservative-leaning audience is unlikely to be to surprised to learn that the channel's parent company handed over cash to a Republican cause, observers note.
