Teen Who Strangled Brother: Dexter Made Me Do It

An Indiana teen who strangled this 10-year-old brother says he was inspired by the TV series Dexter. Andrew Conley, who pleaded guilty to murder yesterday, told investigators that he identified with the lead character in the Showtime series about a police blood-spatter expert with a sideline in serial killing, ABC News reports. Police say Conley likened his urge to kill to a craving for a hamburger.

Conley, who was 17 at the time of the murder last year, entered his guilty plea as jury selection for his trial was about to begin. Defense lawyers had been expected to argue that he was insane at the time of the killing, according to AP. He faces a minimum sentence of 45 years in prison, but prosecutors—who have described the teen as "just evil"—plan to seek a sentence of life without parole.
