A deranged student who is accused of slashing a college dean's throat may have been planning to attack Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon, police say. The dean was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries after the attack at a community college, and Casey Brezik, 22, was charged with felony assault, the Kansas City Star reports. Brezik was wearing a bullet-proof vest when arrested and investigators discovered several political rants on his Facebook page, including one posted an hour before the attack.

Witnesses said Brezik was "acting crazy" and was seen playing with a butterfly knife ahead of the press conference where the governor was due to speak. A worker told the dean he should notify security. Brezik apparently overheard the conversation and attacked the dean before he could leave the room. Police say another college official was injured when he wrested the knife away from Brezik.
