A quaint English village is being overtaken by wildlife—and it's not the furry kind. Puttenham, population 2,500, has become a favorite spot for "dogging"—public sex—by British exhibitionists as well as their trailing audience of voyeurs who love to be entertained al fresco. Dogging is popular and quasi-legal in Britain, where afficionados are directed to prime spots on web sites, reports the New York Times. Of course, rules must be obeyed. For example, “only join in or move closer if you are asked,” advises site Swinging Heaven.
Townspeople have mixed feeling about the trend. “We have nothing against gays or whoever it is up there,” said one resident, referring to a popular dogging field. “It’s just the principle of, ‘What on earth is going on?’” Residents have discussed restricting parking, snipping shrubbery, siccing dogs on the doggers, and populating fields with angry bulls. But one local cabinet member worried about an "increase in suicides because these people have nowhere else to go.” Others take it all in stride. “I think we should just let them get on with it," said one villager.
