Microsoft’s Bing is about to implement some intriguing new Facebook-powered features, the companies announced yesterday. Results on Bing will now show you how many of your friends “liked” that item, and any related links they’ve shared, the New York Times reports. This social data will also factor into which results show up.

“It isn’t just about the common connections between data and the offline world, it’s about connections between people,” said one Microsoft VP. The deal represents a tightening of the Facebook/Microsoft partnership—the House That Gates Built owns 1.6% of Facebook, and helped introduce ads to the site. (More Facebook stories.)
