"I just thought diamonds were cooler," Kanye West told Ellen De Generes this week as he displayed the set of diamonds replacing the lower teeth wrecked in a 2002 car crash. Dentists, however, aren't impressed by the bling. If the replacement is permanent, then "good luck with oral hygiene," one California dentist tells the Los Angeles Times.
"Chewing is going to be a bit of a challenge," the dentist notes. "No peanut butter brittle, no opening a can of beer with your teeth." Kanye's jaw will be affected, because "the weight of the diamond is greater than a normal tooth structure," he explains. "If he doesn't have anything on the top row, it will wear the top part of the teeth faster. In five to seven to 10 years, he’ll have damage on his upper teeth."
