Meg Whitman, in an effort to fire up the Republican base, has been taking a harder line on immigration—or, at least, on one illegal immigrant in particular. The California hopeful had previously declined to comment on whether her former maid, who was in the country illegally during her employment scrubbing Whitman's floors for nine years, should be deported. But she told Fox this week that Nicky Diaz should get the boot, the Huffington Post reports.

"It breaks my heart, but she should be deported because she forged documents and she lied about her immigration status," Whitman said. "And it breaks my heart. You know what? On November 3, no one's going to care about Nicky Diaz. But the law is the law and we live in the rule of law. It's important." (More Nicky Diaz stories.)
