Jon Stewart got to break out his Bush cackle for old time’s sake last night, ruminating on the Decider’s return to the spotlight. “He’s like an old pair of slippers, this guy,” Stewart said. “Like a gift you didn’t particularly want. Wasn’t really a good fit. Started a war between your pants and your shirt. But you had it for eight years, and that’s something. In hindsight, they did keep your feet slightly warmer… Ah, [bleep] it, I never liked those slippers.”

Stewart ribbed Bush over the Kanye flap, and his hilarious proclamation that, if he had it to do over again, the “Mission Accomplished” banner would have read, “Good Going Men and Women, Good Mission (Or Something Like That).” He also made a pretty insightful point: “Memoirs are by their nature self-serving,” Stewart said. “You get to create the parameters by which you want history to judge you.” (More Jon Stewart stories.)
