Alex Rodriguez's agent Scott Boras apologized today for the distraction caused by his announcement during the World Series that A-Rod would opt out of his Yankee contract,  Responding to criticism from baseball officials angered at the move, Boras said in a statement that, "The unfortunate result was not my intent, but is solely my fault. I could have handled this situation better," reports the AP.

“We were very disappointed that Scott Boras would try to upstage our premier baseball event,” said one MLB official. The move was also subjected to heavy criticism from the baseball media assembled in Denver, with some speculating that it was done intentionally. The Yankees have already announced they won't pursue further talks with the slugger. (More MLB stories.)
