University of ... McDonald's? Well, not quite. But the fast-food chain now offers a proprietary degree in business management to its UK employees, the BBC reports. The 2-year degree program is accredited by Manchester Metropolitan University and similar to the university's management development program, but has been modified so that it can be completed by current employees of McDonald's. "People no longer want to choose between jobs and education," explained a McDonald's VP.

Students in the McDonald's program will undertake a combination of conventional classes, online courses, and on-the-job training. It is a degree for managers, but McDonald's says 90% of its managers come up through the lower ranks. McDonald's employs 85,000 in the UK.
