US | Arab Israeli conflict Helen Thomas: Zionists 'Own' Congress, White House Not to mention Hollywood and Wall Street, she says By Evann Gastaldo Posted Dec 3, 2010 1:45 PM CST Copied In this May 27, 2010 file photo, Helen Thomas listens to President Barack Obama during a news conference in the East Room of the White House in Washington. (AP Photo/Susan Walsh, File) Not only does Helen Thomas stand by the controversial comments about Israel that cost her a front-row White House briefing room seat—she's going even further. During a speech at a Michigan workshop on anti-Arab bias, she said, "Congress, the White House and Hollywood, Wall Street are owned by the Zionists. No question, in my opinion. They put their money where their mouth is. ... We're being pushed into a wrong direction in every way." She also noted, to the Detroit Free Press, her resentment over the fracas that caused her to resign: "I can call a president of the United States anything in the book, but I can't touch Israel, which has Jewish-only roads in the West Bank. No American would tolerate that—white-only roads." A pro-Israel activist denied that remark is true, explaining that "there are Israeli-only roads on which anyone with an Israeli license plate ... can use ... Jews and Arabs."
