Matthew Hoffman has received life without parole after pleading guilty in the murder and dismemberment of a woman, her son, and her friend, CNN reports. The Ohio man pleaded guilty to all 10 counts in the case, among them three counts of aggravated murder and the kidnapping and rape of victim Tina Herrmann's 13-year-old daughter, notes WSYX. The murders occurred during a burglary attempt, said defense attorneys.

“Death is too easy for him, and we would rather pay tax dollars and let him suffer and live and deal with what he did every day,” said the sister of one of the victims. Hoffman, a 30-year-old tree trimmer, hid the bodies in a hollow tree. The teen girl was rescued from his basement, where she was found bound and gagged. Click for more on the case.
