Stabber: Text-Message Typo Made Me Kill
Neil Brook killed a friend last year, in an argument that started from a misspelled text message.   (?Dimitri N.)

One British man is dead and another faces prison for stabbing him to death, all over a text message typo, reports the Daily Mail. Neil Brook said in court that he sent a message to his friend last July, calling him a "mutter" (local slang for a mild insult), but the phone's predictive spelling function changed the word to "nutter." Text insults escalated, until the friend came to Brook's apartment in a rage, carrying a large knife. The two struggled, and Brook killed his friend.

The dead man had 104 cuts, bruises, and other injuries. Police said Brook sang along to Lynyrd Skynrd's Summertime as they waited for a police van to take him into custody, and suspected he was on drugs at the time. Brook was found guilty of manslaughter. "Obviously the sentence will be a long one," said the judge. (More murder stories.)
