Mike Huckabee has looked good in early presidential primary polling, but the Fox host isn’t so sure he wants to run. “I’m not one who thinks the future of the world is depending on whether I run for president,” he tells the Washington Post. “It could be that I’ve found my niche.” Huckabee’s media career has made him wealthy, after all, and he didn’t love running the first time—he especially hated the endless debates. “We just rehashed the same stuff, over and over,” he complains. "I found it just incredibly disgusting, and ultimately meaningless."
He also worries about the Tea Party, wondering, “Does this translate into a party of such ultraorthodoxy that no one with a record of actually governing can get through the mire?” Finally, he thinks President Obama “is going to be much tougher to beat than people in our party think.” If he does join the fray, he says there will be a big difference between this run and his 2008 bid: “Money—lots of it,” he says. “We did it before on a dime … I don’t plan to jump in a pool that has no water.” (More Mike Huckabee stories.)
