You may have heard that Beyoncé recently broke up … with her dad. Father Matthew Knowles had been her manager ever since the Destiny’s Child days, but rumors recently surfaced that the daddy-daughter relationship was strained after Matthew had a baby with another woman and divorced Beyoncé’s mom. (Even so, the singer insists it was just a business decision.) The Daily Beast rounds up 10 more stars who also parted ways with a parent … professionally:

  • Usher: Not only did he fire his momager in 2007—on Mother’s Day, no less—he then rehired her in 2008, only to boot her again after a year.

  • Gordon Ramsay: The Hell’s Kitchen chef fired his father-in-law, who acted as Ramsay’s business adviser and had helped him open his first restaurant.
  • LeAnn Rimes: One year after becoming a country star at the tender age of 13, her parents divorced and she rebelled. At 16, Rimes attempted to take control of her career away from her father, and sued him for withholding earnings.
  • Macaulay Culkin: Mac claims his dad physically abused and humiliated his children, and he ultimately went to court to remove Kit Culkin’s access to the millions he’d earned. They’re still estranged—Macaulay doesn’t even know for sure where his dad lives.
