13 Protesters Killed in Syria, 2 in Yemen

Friday continues to be a day of protest throughout the Arab world. The worst reported violence today came out of Syria, where witnesses say security forces opened fire with live ammunition and killed at least 13 protesters in the southern city of Daraa, reports the AP. The demonstrations mark the third consecutive week of protests against President Bashar al-Assad.

In Yemen, a crowd estimated at more than 100,000 gathered in the capital of Sanaa to again demand the ouster of President Ali Abdullah Saleh, notes the New York Times. Two people were killed by gunfire and another 25 injured in the southern city of Taiz, witnesses tell Reuters. Tens of thousands also protested in Egypt's Tahrir Square over the slow pace of reforms, though no casualties were reported. (More Arab revolution stories.)
