Japan Gives Russell Brand the Boot

Russell Brand probably won't be extolling the virtues of Japanese hospitality anytime soon: The 35-year-old British comedian arrived in Tokyo to watch wife Katy Perry perform, only to get tossed from the country, reports Fox News. "So...my husband just got deported from Japan," tweeted the singer. "I am so. sad. I brought him all this way to show him my favorite place #tokyodreamscrushed." She later clarified that the reason was prior convictions "from over 10 years ago!"

Brand, for his part, was finding humor in the situation, tweeting: "Planning escape from Japanese custody. It's bloody hard to dig a tunnel with a chopstick." Then he seemed to soften toward his captors: "Stockholm syndrome kicking in. Just asked my guard out for (vegetarian) sushi. He giggled." Perry said her performances would go on.
