A President Obama impersonator at a Republican gathering in New Orleans yesterday was pulled off the stage after making a series of off-color racial and gay jokes, reports the Washington Post. The comedian, Reggie Brown, came out to the music of Bruce Springsteen's "Born in the USA," a not-so-subtle jab at controversy over Obama's birthplace, then proceeded to tell jokes about Obama's heritage, the Anthony Weiner controversy, and gay congressman Barney Frank.
Among the jokes:
- “My mother loved a black man,” but “she was not a Kardashian.”
- On Black History Month: “Michelle celebrates the full month. I celebrate half.”
- Newt Gingrich's approval ratings were dropping “faster than Anthony Weiner’s pants in an AOL chat room.”
- A picture, said to be Barack and Michelle Obama when they leave office, but which was Fred Sanford and his sister-in-law, Ethel, from the show Sanford and Son.
"I just thought he had gone too far," said the president of Republican Leadership Conference, which hosted the event. "He was funny the first 10 or 15 minutes, but it was inappropriate, it was getting ridiculous.” (More
