Heather Mills: Daily Mirror Hacked My Phone

Heather Mills and Piers Morgan are at the center of the latest twist in the British phone-hacking scandal. Mills claims that a senior journalist at the Daily Mirror admitted hacking into her voicemail while she was dating Paul McCartney in 2001, and called her up to quote from a message McCartney had left her, reports the BBC. Morgan has written about hearing a recorded message the former Beatle had left for Mills.

Morgan, who was editor of the Mirror at the time, has denied sanctioning phone hacking and calls Mills' accusation "unsubstantiated," the Los Angeles Times reports. He noted that McCartney himself has accused Mills of hacking into his voicemail and leaking the contents to reporters. The CNN presenter took credit for playing matchmaker for McCartney and Mills, but he later turned on her, calling her a "vengeful, shameless, ghastly woman." (More phone hacking scandal stories.)
