In what may have been a season-saver, the Bears calmly overcame a fourth-quarter 14-point deficit, winning on an overtime field goal by a gimlet-eyed Robbie Gould. All-world return specialist Devin Hester had two long second-half touchdowns; frequent Chicago goat Rex Grossman was sharp on the last two scoring drives.

Rookie back Adrian Peterson made the most of a blocked Broncos punt with five minutes left, pushing a crowd of defenders into the end zone from the four-yard line; soon thereafter, Grossman hit a diving Bernard Berrian for a brilliant equalizer. That drive was enabled by a fourth-down penalty on Denver cornerback Dre Bly deep in Chicago territory. (More NFL stories.)
