By now, just about everyone in politics has weighed in on Rick Perry's "treason" comments regarding Ben Bernanke. How about Perry himself? "I'm just passionate about the issue and we stand by what we said," the Texas governor said today in Dubuque, Iowa, according to ABC News. "Although Perry’s campaign is only a few days old, the episode provides a telling insight into the Texas governor," writes Chris Cillizza at the Washington Post: "He is brash, bold and unapologetic about being so."
The strategy has long served him well and could continue to do so in the GOP primary. He's setting himself up to be "the guy who believes deeply enough in conservative principles to not apologize for them," a clear contrast to Mitt Romney and his reputation as a flip-flopper, notes Cillizza.
