Although Herman Cain admitted to being “falsely accused” of sexual harassment, he said he personally never paid anyone a settlement related to the allegations—but NBC News confirms at least one woman did receive a settlement from the National Restaurant Association. During his earlier statement, Cain—who was president of the association at the time—left open the possibility that the trade group “did a settlement” without his knowledge. NBC News says the unnamed woman received the money after complaining about Cain’s inappropriate sexual conduct.
Meanwhile, over on MSNBC, Jonathan Martin—who co-wrote the original Politico article on the Cain allegations—said he won’t “get into the details” of what exactly Cain is accused of doing, Real Clear Politics reports. “What actually happened to these women as well, we want to be sensitive to that, too. It includes both verbal and physical gestures,” Martin said. “In one case it involved, I think, inviting a woman up to a hotel room of Cain's on the road … We're just not going to get into the details of exactly what happened with these women beside what's in the story."
