Tea Partiers Want You to 'BUYcott Black Friday'

There may be some common ground between the Occupiers and the Tea Partiers, but apparently not when it comes to Black Friday. The Tea Party is fighting back against Occupy Black Friday with its own campaign, BUYcott Black Friday, CNBC reports. As opposed to the Occupiers, who would rather you sit out today’s shopping extravaganza, the BUYcotters want you to go out and spend money to stimulate the economy.

The Occupy Black Friday movement urges shoppers to avoid publicly traded retailers. But the counter-movement, organized by a Tea Party coalition of anti-Occupy groups, says that’s a terrible idea. “At a time when our economy is most fragile and ratings agencies are talking about another downgrade of the US credit rating, it's completely irresponsible for Occupy Wall Street to attempt to bring the US economy to a halt on the busiest shopping day of the year,” says a spokesperson in a press release.
