The record executive who was critically wounded in Friday's Hollywood shooting rampage died last night, the AP reports. John Atterberry, 40, had been a vice president of Death Row Records, then home to Tupac Shakur and Dr. Dre, before going on to work with artists including Jessica Simpson, Christina Aguilera, and Michael Jackson, the Los Angeles Times reports.

Atterberry, who was shot at close range while driving his Mercedes-Benz, was the only seriously injured victim in 26-year-old Tyler Brehm's apparently random attack; police say they are still searching for a motive. Atterberry's sister posted on her Facebook page, "Today, I lost my JOHN … Maybe GOD just needed JOHN to get the 'real party' started."
