Birthers Can't Sue Obama: US Court

Sorry, birthers: You've got no right to sue the president, a US court of appeals says. Dozens of birthers tried to bring President Obama to court over claims he wasn't born in the US, but their complaint contains no grievance that the court has the power to remedy, a panel of judges in Pasadena ruled. Among the plaintiffs was a minister who asked his congregation to pray for the president's death and 2008 third-party candidate Alan Keyes.

Even fellow candidates like Keyes would have had to raise the issue before the election to get any legal traction, the court said. Indeed, the whole matter is outside the scope of a federal court, the three judges ruled, according to the Los Angeles Times. Such a case would require the input of the attorney general.
