New York's Daily Intel blog calls it the "saddest story you'll read, ever," so be warned. A single mom in New York City was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver on Christmas morning, reports the Daily News. Donna Fountain, 38, had an 8-year-old son at home, who was waiting for her to return from work to open presents. The poignant twist, though, is that police found a list of dreams that Fountain carried with her. Among them:

  • Buy her own home by age 45
  • Establish housing for gay and lesbian teenagers
  • "Marry the woman of my dreams"
  • "Make sure Elijah graduates from college!"
