Obama 2012 Aide Was Bailout Lobbyist

President Obama is building his reelection campaign on "channeling anti-Wall Street anger," but a top campaign staffer lobbied for the bank bailout that has both Occupiers and Tea Partiers fuming. Broderick Johnson and fellow lobbyists were paid some $450,000 working for the Financial Services Forum, a group of top banking CEOs, between 2007 and last year, Salon reports. But "Broderick is no longer a lobbyist—he deregistered in April," said an Obama rep.

Johnson "will not discuss any matters related to his clients with the campaign or administration," the rep added. He has also worked for Fannie Mae, JPMorgan Chase, and Bank of America, among other financial players, helping to score $1.3 million for the Washington law firm Bryan Chase. He offers the campaign connections to a wealth of Democratic Party insiders, having also worked on Capitol Hill and in the Clinton administration. He's married to Michele Norris of NPR.
