Cops: Man Poisons Rice Krispies to Off Wife
Snap, Crackle, murder?   (Azuza police)

A California man spiked his wife's bowl of Rice Krispies with enough chemicals to kill her, say Azusa police. Suspect Fernando Porras' 17-year-old daughter called 911 after her mother said the cereal smelled and tasted awful. It had been doused with the household cleaner Goof Off, according to investigators. "She goes, ‘Something’s in it, something’s in it,’" the girl told KCAL-TV. “So I went and picked it up and when I saw what was in the cup, I could smell it, and I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, this is a chemical.’”

Cops became particularly suspicious when Porras fled as they attempted to question him at the hospital where his wife was being treated, reports the San Gabriel Valley Tribune. He's being held in lieu of $1 million bail. His wife has recovered. (More California stories.)
