Sure, pundits came up with a million reasons Jon Huntsman exited the GOP presidential race yesterday, but Stephen Colbert knows the truth. After all, Huntsman dropped out right after Colbert announced he was forming an exploratory committee, the Comedy Central host pointed out last night. "Folks, do you see what’s happened here?" says an excited Colbert. "The mere possibility that I might run for president blew Jon Huntsman all the way back to the Lands’ End catalogue he came from!"

Of course, Colbert still faces competition from the other candidates, including Rick Santorum. Colbert noted that Christian conservatives are rallying behind Santorum, "although there is some doubt how much God's endorsement on Saturday could help. It didn't do much for Tim Tebow." Colbert went on to note that if he were God, he wouldn't have endorsed Santorum. Rather, "I would have gone with me," he said. "Why not, folks? I’m a social conservative, I teach Sunday school, I attend church, and most importantly, I’m a way bigger homophobe than Rick Santorum." (More Jon Huntsman stories.)
