Hey, America: You had your chance to pick the perfect presidential candidate and you blew it—according to Michele Bachmann. Asked who she thought the most conservative candidate still in the GOP race was, Bachmann tooted her own horn, CNN reports. "I was. I was the perfect candidate," she declared. "America had their chance with the perfect candidate. But any of our candidates are going to be acceptable to the American people."
In fact, "more than acceptable," she added, "because right now, if you look at the Gallup map that came out this week, President Obama is in big trouble all across the country." Bachmann dropped out of the GOP race after finishing sixth in Iowa and is now seeking a fourth term in the House. Her qualities as a candidate aside, it looks like she may not be the perfect boss. Her campaign was marked by high staff turnover and, over a two-year period, she had the fourth-highest staff turnover of any House member, Politico notes. Only five of the 17 the aides who were on her payroll in the fall of 2009 were still with her toward the end of 2011. Topping her: Betty Sutton (D-Ohio), John Fleming (R-La.), and Steve Austria (R-Ohio).
