With Boston center Kendrick Perkins sidelined by a freak bedroom accident, rookie Glen "Big Baby" Davis made the most of his first career start, helping the Celtics protect a perfect home record against the Kings. Davis had 16 points and 9 rebounds, statistically outperforming his frontcourt mate, Kevin Garnett. Sacramento, still winless on the road, had led at halftime.
Perkins had been moving his bed when part of it crashed onto his foot. His absence caused Boston to change its starting lineup for the first time all year, a dramatic departure from last season, when coach Doc Rivers assembled 26 lineups in 82 games. Boston is now 11-0 at home, while Sacramento is 0-9 away from Arco Arena. (More NBA stories.)
