Jon Stewart celebrated Valentine's Day last night by gleefully ripping into people who have a problem with the Pentagon's new policies on women in combat. He took some brief shots at Rick Santorum ("What a surprise, Prudence von StickUpHisAss has some concerns!") but saved his real ire for Fox News contributor Liz Trotta, who argued that sexual assault should be expected in the military. "You know the old saying," Stewart quipped, "you can't make a co-ed omelet without raping a few eggs."
In response to Trotta's complaint that the military was spending too much to "protect women who are being raped too much," Stewart agreed: "Think of how much cheaper it would be for all of us if they were raped just the right amount." He then went to Samantha Bee, who explained that women should expect this kind of treatment. "That's just the way it is when you're a woman intruding on a man's world," she said. "We expect to be paid slightly less, and raped slightly more." (More Jon Stewart stories.)
