Newt Gingrich thinks rising gas prices might just be his ticket to the White House, reports Politico. His new campaign focus is all about how he can fix President Obama's energy policy and make the US less dependent on foreign oil. How? Well, he's begun calling himself "President Drilling," writes Ginger Gibson. (That might be a fight Obama would welcome.)

“They’re really in a bind,” Gingrich says of the White House. “They know that the country wants a lower cost system, and their base wants a very expensive system.” Gingrich, who's also using lines like, "You can't fit a gun rack in a Volt," plans to stress the theme during a speech in California this afternoon. He's also got a new 30-minute ad—yes, 30 minutes—that begins airing in upcoming primary states today. It's pretty much just Gingrich at a desk talking about gas prices and energy. (More gas prices stories.)
