Writing in Newsweek, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says the US has forsaken its “proper role in eliminating tyranny and violence” in the international arena, instead acting unilaterally to disrupt a peaceful world. Ahmadinejad says Iran has every right to develop nuclear fuel “for peaceful purposes,” and the US is opposing the ability of nations to “advance together.”
Ahmadinejad demands action to end the “deadlock in Iraq,” and says US hypocrisy—toppling the “despotic regime” of Saddam Hussein it supported during the Iran-Iraq war—“tarnished” the “prestige of the great American people.” He also works in hatred towards Israel—terming as a “fatal disease” the Bush Administration's allegiance to "the Zionist network"—and suggests a comprehensive solution: “religious values, ethics and spirituality.” (More Mahmoud Ahmadinejad stories.)
