Facebook was only trying to help, but a Washington state man faces bigamy charges nonetheless. As the News Tribune of Tacoma explains, Alan Fulk married wife No. 1 in 2001 but moved out eight years later. They never got around to an official divorce. Last year, he changed his last name to O'Neill and married wife No. 2. Facebook ever-so-helpfully suggested that wife No. 1 might want to friend wife No. 2, and things did not end well.

Wife No. 1 called O'Neill's mother, along with the proper authorities, and now her estranged hubby faces felony bigamy charges and has been suspended from his job as a corrections officer. “It’s not the crime of the century, but it is a crime,” says a local prosecutor. The full story by Adam Lynn is a fun read. (More bigamy stories.)
