Nike Tackles New NFL Uniforms

The NFL unveiled its new, Nike-designed uniforms yesterday, bringing a sleeker look and new, drier fabrics to the gridiron, reports CBS News. The Nike partnership with the NFL is new, taking over after years of Reebok uniforms. "I love them,'' said Commissioner Roger Goodell. "I love them, first, because it starts with the performance part of them. Talking to the players, they don't want to take them off. They love 'em."

The sleeker design is supposed to offer more flexibility for players, good for evading tacklers. "That's the biggest thing for me: making sure that I'm sleek and I'm fast, and I can't be grabbed or held," said Victor Cruz of the New York Giants. Most of the teams kept the same basic design as before, except for the Seattle Seahawks, who made bigger changes, including deeper, darker blues with neon green highlights. (More NFL stories.)
