Lawyers for Moammar's Gadhafi's imprisoned son, Saif al-Islam, say he is being beaten in a Libyan prison, where he is held in near total isolation. Though Libyan prosecutors initially said he would only be tried for minor crimes involving a camel license and fish farming problems, he is being kept in a "legal black hole," and deprived of his rights, said defense counsel with the International Criminal Court.
The ICC and Libya are battling over who should try Gadhafi, reports the BBC. The ICC is insisting he be turned over to the The Hague for a war crimes trial. But instead he's languishing in a Libyan prison, say his attorneys, because officials want to build a special court to try him on Libyan soil. (More Gaddafi stories.)
