Dominique Strauss-Kahn apparently thinks Nafissatou Diallo, the hotel maid who claimed he sexually assaulted her, cost him the French presidency. He filed a $1 million countersuit yesterday, the anniversary of his arrest, accusing Diallo of “knowingly and intentionally making a false report to law-enforcement authorities," thus costing him his job at IMF and harming his reputation—which cost him “other professional opportunities.”
Those opportunities are not specifically named, but the New York Post notes that DSK says elsewhere in the papers that some considered him the presumptive “next president of France.” Of course, he never ended up running in this year’s election. In the suit, Strauss-Kahn admits to engaging in “mutually consensual sexual acts” with Diallo. The suit accuses her of a number of other charges, including false imprisonment, with DSK noting that he was strip-searched, photographed naked, and made to submit to a “perp walk” after his arrest. Francois Hollande, meanwhile, was sworn in to DSK's would-be job today. (More Dominique Strauss Kahn stories.)
