(AP Photo/Montreal Police Service via The Canadian Press) Los Angeles police have determined Luka Rocco Magnotta wasn't responsible for a headless body found beneath the Hollywood sign in January, but he's not off the hook stateside. Now Miami police say they are checking into the possibility Magnotta is responsible for an unsolved murder that occurred there in 2009, reports ABC News. The Miami connection was uncovered by Canadian journalists who found someone calling himself "luka-magnotta" online claimed to be living in Miami shortly after the time Omar Laparra was found dismembered and floating in garbage bags in Biscayne Bay in 2009. "Why not look into it? Any agency with a similar case, we would look into it," a police officer tells the Miami Herald—though he doesn't sound overly optimistic. “However, the preliminary look shows the MO is different. In the Canadian case, it appeared to be domestic and the killer knew the victim while in our case, it appears to be random."
